Once upon a time I lied...
I walked into an interview for what I thought was an assistant position at a real estate office (spoiler: it wasn’t).
To this day, I still don’t know how it happened but I walked into an interview for a Marketing Director position at a boutique real estate office and, when they asked if I had any graphic design experience, I lied and said yes. (I mean… Publisher totally counts, right?) My justification? I was down to my last $500, rent was looming, and besides — how hard could it be to play around in Photoshop all day?
Turns out: very hard.
Here’s what sixteen years (and hundreds of agents) taught me: most real estate marketing looks fine… right up until you realize it could belong to literally anyone.
It’s a mix of generic templates, recycled advice, and whatever happened to look good on someone else’s feed that week. And the result? Marketing that looks fine… but doesn’t sound like you, feel like you, or stick with anyone.
That’s the gap I’ve spent my career closing: the one between how good you actually are and how good your marketing makes you look.
